2021 Reading Year in Review

I’ve been procrastinating writing any 2021 recap posts as I always hate narrowing everything down. This will be my first in a series, as I want to highlight my favorite reads in a separate post.

2021 Milestones

First off, 2021 was a milestone year for me as I reentered the book community. I relaunched this blog back in March 2021 and joined Instagram as I truly missed the book community. It’s been such a joy to return to the book community and I’ve had such a blast getting to know more people and finding so many great reads.

2021 Reading Goal

This year, my reading goal was to read 100 books, and I managed to surpass that as I closed out the year reading 107 books!

My Year in Books

2021 Longest Book vs. Shortest Book

Not surprisingly, the longest book I read was A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas. That book was a beast, but I really loved it even if I thought it could have been shortest. On the flip side, the shortest book I read this year was a novella, How To Catch a Wild Viscount by Tessa Dare. This was Dare’s first published worked and I’m glad I read it as part of #ButDoTheyBang?

The most popular book I read this year (according to Goodreads) was a Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas. That’s actually quite surprising to me as I would have guessed A Court of Silver Flames for that as well.

My least popular was His Lady to Protect by Justine Covington. This was a decent historical romance that you can read on Kindle Unlimited and I recommend you check it out (see my review here).

2021 Reviews

This is my first time counting how many books I reviewed this year, and I’m amazed at the result. I ended up reviewing 91 reviews this year which feels like WAY more than I thought. Not a bad first year returning to blogging, if I do say so myself.

If you want to check out the full list of reviews, you can find that by pursuing my “Book Review” tag or “Review” category.

2022 Reading Goals

I’m always incredibly uncreative when it comes to setting a reading goal as I always choose a 100 books. For many years, that was a struggle to hit, but I did manage to hit it in 2020 and in 2021. I’m going to set 100 books as my reading goal for 2022 as well because it’s around where I end every year.

How did you do against your reading goals in 2021? Any big plans for 2022?

Let me know what you think!
