MY REVIEW

Joanna Shupe hit it out of the park with her third installment in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series. The Bride Goes Rogue is, quite possibly, the hottest book Shupe has ever written. Shupe perfectly balances the steaminess with compelling characters and a charming romance that gave me all the emotions. I already know this book will be one of my top favorites of the year, as I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time while reading it.

MY REVIEW

CW: Torture; murder; suicidal thoughts; death; violence; substance abuse and addiction; kidnapping

I was very nervous going into this book knowing what had happened to Regin on Torture Island and that her mate was the head honcho on the island. I didn’t think that Cole would be able to redeem Declan Chase as that was an incredibly tall order. But somehow, she did, and this book is one of my favorites in the Immortals After Dark series.

MY REVIEW

All the Duke I Need took me by surprise in the best way! I went into this book with no expectations but found it so cute and ended up loving it by the end. The romance was adorable, and I loved how Caroline Linden brought all the pieces together to solve for the lost heir to the Carlyle dukedom that has been central to the plot of the Desperately Seeking Duke series.

MY REVIEW

CW: sexual harassament/assualt

Did I read the same book as everyone else? Because this book was a big fat NO from me. I know a lot of people love The Love Hypothesis, but everything about it – from the writing to the characters, to the plot and even the romance – did not work for me. If this wasn’t a hyped book, I would have put it down after the first chapter and marked it as Did Not Finish.

I honestly don’t know where to start with this review.

To try to make this digestible, I’m going to structure this a little bit differently than my normal review with sections:

MY REVIEW

CW: Slavery; racism; violence; pregnancy

Who thought peeling a potato could be so fraught with sexual tension? Seriously.

I adored I Kissed An Earl, the fourth book in Julie Anne Long’s Pennyroyal Green series. This book had a little bit of everything. You have forced proximity, pirates, enemies-to-lovers, adventures on the high sea and sexy potato peeling. What is not to like?

MY REVIEW

When it comes to Tessa Bailey’s books, they’re incredibly hit or miss for me. And this one was a big ole miss.

I know this book is incredibly popular, but it did not work for me. I found the characters to be unlikeable, the romance underdeveloped, and the writing awkward. Some of the choices also made me angry as the central conflict is based on a failure to communicate.

MY REVIEW

When I saw the announcement for Jessie Mihalik’s new series last summer, I immediately had to add it to my TBR as I was a huge fan of her Consortium Rebellion series. And then I saw it was a bounty hunter, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers novel and it made its way to the list of most anticipated reads of 2022. This book DELIVERED! There are seriously not enough space opera romances and I crave more books like Hunt the Stars.

MY REVIEW

CW: sexual assault; non-consensual sexual encounters; confinement; violence

I totally missed reading this book when I started diving into the Immortals After Dark, so I decided to revisit it after reading Untouchable to finish all the books focused on the Wroth brothers. As a note, I read the revised version of this story released in 2017. While I’m not sure precisely what was changed, from what I’ve seen and heard, the changes were to make this book a bit less problematic, though it still is problematic (more on that later.)

MY REVIEW

CW: Death of parent (off-page); Death of child (off-page); cheating; pregnancy

Nothing makes me happier than a new Lauren Layne book. It’s been a long time since I read a book in one sitting, yet somehow every time I read a book in one sitting, it’s a Lauren Layne book. I’ve been a Lauren Layne fan since I read Blurred Lines back in 2015, and ever since then, I’ve been anxiously awaiting each new release of hers. As soon as Made in Manhattan was available, I had to dive in! I loved this book so much that I stayed up until 3 am to finish it even though I had to work the next day. No regrets.

MY REVIEW

CW: Edging; sexual torture; incest; violence; dubious consent

You know when you get a snippet of a couple who will be the center of a future book and you think, “that’s a book I will love!” Well, that was me with Sabine and Rydstrom. I think I’ve found my new favorite book in the Immortals After Dark series. After being introduced to them in Dark Desires After Dusk, I could not wait to get their story. And boy, did their story live up to my wildest expectations.
