MY REVIEW

I feel like I went into this book with high expectations, but unfortunately, this book felt a bit flat. I didn’t hate this book, but I also didn’t love it – I guess what I felt was vague indifference. It took what felt like a long time to get through this book as it didn’t engage me with the romance, and I struggled to connect and like Cleo.

MY REVIEW

CW: Emotional abuse; parental abandonment; cheating; pregnancy

If there is one thing I can count on from Vivienne Lorret, it’s that her books will be fun. How to Steal a Scoundrel’s Heart is no exception. I liked this one – but wow, did it go in a direction I did not expect towards the end. Vivienne Lorret kept me on my toes with what would happen with Leo and Prue’s relationship on their journey towards a happily ever after.

MY REVIEW

All the Duke I Need took me by surprise in the best way! I went into this book with no expectations but found it so cute and ended up loving it by the end. The romance was adorable, and I loved how Caroline Linden brought all the pieces together to solve for the lost heir to the Carlyle dukedom that has been central to the plot of the Desperately Seeking Duke series.

MY REVIEW

CW: Slavery; racism; violence; pregnancy

Who thought peeling a potato could be so fraught with sexual tension? Seriously.

I adored I Kissed An Earl, the fourth book in Julie Anne Long’s Pennyroyal Green series. This book had a little bit of everything. You have forced proximity, pirates, enemies-to-lovers, adventures on the high sea and sexy potato peeling. What is not to like?

MY REVIEW

CW: Kidnapping; infidelity/cheating; sex trafficking

Who would have guessed that this book would have so many puppets in it and that the puppets would actually be so important to the story? I certainly didn’t expect that going in, but somehow Julie Anne Long has a way of making the unexpected work. I’ll be honest – this one felt like a little bit of a letdown after how amazing Like No Other Lover was. That’s not to say this is a bad book. I still really enjoyed this one, but it felt like it was missing that special something to make it truly shine.

Happy Bridgerton month! We’re officially a few weeks away from the premiere of season 2 of Netflix’s smash hit Bridgerton, and I am so excited.

And I’m even more excited for season 2 as The Viscount Who Loved Me is tied with When He Was Wicked as my favorite book from the series.

If you’ve already read all the Bridgerton books and are looking for some other historical romances to check out, here are a few series centered on a central family (or two!) that might hit the spot:

MY REVIEW

I’ve been trying to sort out my feelings on The Good Girl’s Guide to Rakes for about a month. On the one hand, I enjoyed reading it and liked the story, but I also found it not all that memorable in the long run. I feel like it was missing that special something to make it stand out. All that to say is I did enjoy it, but I don’t think I loved it.

I had to wait weeks for my library hold of Like No Other Lover to come in, and let me tell you, I dropped everything else I was reading to dive into book two of the Pennyroyal Green series. While I enjoyed The Perils of Pleasure, I absolutely adored this one!
