MY REVIEW

CW: Violence; gore; PTSD/panic attacks; kidnapping

I read this book back in April 2022, but I am just reviewing it now so forgive me if this is more high-level of a review than normal as I didn’t take as in-depth notes as I normally do!

Shadow’s Claim is book 12 in the Immortals After Dark series and also serves as book 1 in The Dacians series (a spinoff that is intertwined with IAD) and served as a nice change of pace to some of the really heavy storylines coming out of the Torture Island arc of IAD.

This book surprised me as I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it! The plot, the world, the romance, everything was so good!

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW

CW:  Murder; blood; warfare; emotional/financial abuse; reference to the murder of a pregnant woman

I don’t even know where to start or how to summarize my thoughts on this book. I was literally speechless after reading it and feeling so many things. This book destroyed me in the best possible way. I’m just sitting here, days after finishing it, in awe of Ilona Andrews’ talents.

MY REVIEW

CW: suicide attempt; murder; gun violence; gore; kidnapping; death of a parent

Sapphire Flames kicks off Catalina’s books in the second half of the Hidden Legacy series. While Catalina is different from Nevada in many ways, these books still feel familiar with the signature action, mystery, adventure and romance we’ve come to love from Ilona Andrews.

MY REVIEW

CW: Kidnapping; Torture; Gun Violence; Death; Gore

Wildfire wraps up Nevada’s arc of the Hidden Legacy series, and what a satisfying conclusion it is! This book does a great job wrapping up some of the overarching plot points from the first half of the series while leaving the door open for Catalina to take over the reins in the second half.

MY REVIEW

CW: Murder; violence; gun violence; death of a parent; kidnapping; torture; grief; panic attacks/PTSD

Is it cliche to say White Hot is white hot? Because it’s the truth. When I think of the Hidden Legacy series as a whole, this is one book that always standouts in my head as it packs an emotional punch in so many ways.

MY REVIEW

CW: Murder; violence; fire/fire injury; gun violence; cancer; death of a parent

No one does urban fantasy romance quite like Ilona Andrews. When I first read Burn for Me back in 2019, I was immediately hooked. I’ve since reread the series multiple times, so pardon me if I get a bit gushy.

The Hidden Legacy series is one of my absolute favorites series and does not get talked about enough. The cover of this book does not do the story justice. Not only does this book have a swoon-worthy romance, but you also get fantastic world-building, a unique magic system, an action-packed plot and unforgettable secondary characters all in one book.

MY REVIEW

CW: Rape; suicidal thoughts; murder; violence; blood; torture

I went into this book with sky-high expectations – it is Lothaire, the Enemy of Old, after all! I’ve been intrigued since he first popped up on the page way back in A Hunger Like No Other and built up how awesome his book was going to be in mind.

Unfortunately, this one didn’t meet my overall expectations, though it was more BONKERS than expected. Honestly, I was not expecting Lothaire to rip his LITERAL heart out as an expression of love, yet here we are. Seriously, so many limbs and organs were lost in this book. And that’s saying something for this series, as there is at least one limb lost per book.

MY REVIEW

CW: Torture; murder; suicidal thoughts; death; violence; substance abuse and addiction; kidnapping

I was very nervous going into this book knowing what had happened to Regin on Torture Island and that her mate was the head honcho on the island. I didn’t think that Cole would be able to redeem Declan Chase as that was an incredibly tall order. But somehow, she did, and this book is one of my favorites in the Immortals After Dark series.

MY REVIEW

CW: Slavery; sexual abuse; rape; violence; torture; kidnapping; murder

I will fully admit, it’s been a few months since I read this, as I’m still playing catch up on some reviews, so this might not be as detailed as usual.

Demon From the Dark is book nine in the Immortals After Dark series and kicks off a bit of a dark phase on what has been dubbed in the book community “Torture Island.” I enjoyed this one while reading it as it starts with a bang and continues to take you on a ride filled with adventure, romance, heartache, torture, and so much more.

MY REVIEW

CW: Rape; sexual assault; violence

Y’all, I don’t think the Lykae books in the Immortals After Dark series are for me. I’ve been putting off writing this review for almost two months, and my feelings on it have really sunk in now. I did not like this book at all, and it is currently my least favorite in the entire series. The plot and the romance were incredibly lackluster and the only thing that I liked was the epilogue.
