MY REVIEW

CW: Rape; child molestation; grooming; trafficking; toxic relationship; kidnapping; emotional abuse; murder; references to suicide, cancer, alcohol abuse, gang rape, depression

After taking a little break from the Immortals After Dark series, MacRieve was the perfect book to welcome me back. Despite the major content warnings (this book tackles some very HEAVY topics which won’t be for everyone), this book was a lot of fun! I had a smile on my face while reading it, yet also found myself constantly going WTF at some of the crazy – so, you know, pretty typical of an IAD book.

MY REVIEW

CW: Rape; suicidal thoughts; murder; violence; blood; torture

I went into this book with sky-high expectations – it is Lothaire, the Enemy of Old, after all! I’ve been intrigued since he first popped up on the page way back in A Hunger Like No Other and built up how awesome his book was going to be in mind.

Unfortunately, this one didn’t meet my overall expectations, though it was more BONKERS than expected. Honestly, I was not expecting Lothaire to rip his LITERAL heart out as an expression of love, yet here we are. Seriously, so many limbs and organs were lost in this book. And that’s saying something for this series, as there is at least one limb lost per book.

MY REVIEW

CW: Death of parent (off-page); Death of child (off-page); cheating; pregnancy

Nothing makes me happier than a new Lauren Layne book. It’s been a long time since I read a book in one sitting, yet somehow every time I read a book in one sitting, it’s a Lauren Layne book. I’ve been a Lauren Layne fan since I read Blurred Lines back in 2015, and ever since then, I’ve been anxiously awaiting each new release of hers. As soon as Made in Manhattan was available, I had to dive in! I loved this book so much that I stayed up until 3 am to finish it even though I had to work the next day. No regrets.

MY REVIEW

I want to preface this review by saying I’m a sucker for anything written by Lauren Layne. I will automatically be excited and buy whatever book she is publishing without even knowing or caring what it is about. In my book, she’s one of the top contemporary romance authors out there. With To Sir, With Love, Layne once again hits it out of the park.
