Top Reads of 2021

I’ve been procrastinating on writing this post for days now as I truly hate picking favorites, especially when it comes to the books I read.

2021 was a great reading year and I truly read so many books that I adored. However, I do think one book stands out in my mind as being my top favorite this year. I accidentally added it twice to my list while I was pulling this together so I take that as a sign that it deserves special recognition.

With the exception of the first book on this list, the rest of the list is in no particular order.

Most, if not all, of these books were 5-star reads, but not all of my 5 star reads made it onto my favorites. I was pulling this list together I was thinking of the books that stuck with me the most and that I tend to recommend frequently as must-reads. If you follow me on Instagram, I don’t think any of these will come as a major shock.

Okay, enough babbling! Here’s my top 10 reads of 2021:

MY REVIEW

I have been putting off writing my review of Shadowfever for a while now. It’s truly been a struggle to find the right words to capture my feelings on this book. The only way I can sum up this book was that reading it was an EXPERIENCE. I was literally saying ‘Oh my god’ left and right while reading it.

MY REVIEW

CW: Rape, sexual assault

Just when you think the Fever series can’t get any better, it does. I didn’t think Moning could top the action, emotions and ending of Faefever, but she somehow does with Dreamfever. Once again, I found myself screaming at the end of this book and looking back in awe at everything that transpired in this book. Moning manages to flip the world she created on its head and add more complexity and depth to it and the characters.

November 2021 TBR

October was a bit of a lackluster reading month for me, but I’m hoping I can make up for it in November, especially I’m not traveling for Thanksgiving. I’m also so close to hitting my reading goal for the year so let’s see if we can hit it in November!

I feel like I’ll continue to be a bit of a moody reader this month, but a lot of these books fit with the current reading mood. Here’s what’s on my to be read list:

MY REVIEW

I’m going to be honest – reviewing this book is hard because I loved it so much, but I also don’t want to give away any of the big plot things. Talking anything plot-wise with this series is incredibly difficult as there are so many fun twists and turns, and experiencing them for the first time while reading is magical.

MY REVIEW

CW: Murder; sexual assault

I will fully admit, the first time I tried to read this book a few months back, it didn’t work for me. I think I was in the wrong headspace as I barely made a dent in it the first go around. HOWEVER. I am so glad that I picked this up again because I ended up binging the first five books in a crazy short amount of time.

September 2021 Recap

Fall is officially here! I don’t know about you, but September flew by for me. I had a crazy month in my personal life as I got to lead the PR and go to New York to take my work public! It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience, but man, it seriously cut into my reading time as I was super busy.

September 2021 Reads

I also completely threw out my September TBR pretty quickly this month and just went with the books I feeling like reading. I ended up only reading 3 out of the 6 books on my TBR.

This month, I only ended up reading 8 books, which I know is a lot for some people but felt like not a ton for me.

Let’s get into what I read this month (hint it was Fever-centric):
