February 2023 Reading Recap

The shortest month of the year has come and gone in the flash of an eye. Somehow it also turned into a really good reading month for me though, so I cannot complain!

This month, I ended up reading 7 books, which was more than I expected, so go me!

We also FINALLY got a resolution to the HarperCollins Strike this month, so I have a lot of fantastic HC books I’ve read over the last three months that I cannot wait to review and talk about here!

Here’s everything I read in February:

MY REVIEW

Lauren Layne can do no wrong in my book. You, Again is the perfect contemporary romance that hits all the right emotional notes. Seriously, nothing makes me happy than a new Lauren Layne book. I downloaded this as soon as it was available and stayed up way too late devouring it – zero regrets.

July 2022 Reading Recap

Another month, come and gone! After a rough couple of reading month, I feel like I feel found my groove again with reading. July was my best reading month since January of this year as I ended up reading 12 books. That’s helped me get a bit of a lead on my reading goal of 100 books in 2022, which we love to see.

Additionally, I also feel like I have started to find the space to get back to my regular cadence of review. There is definitely some work to be done to get back to consistently reviewing 2-3 books per week, but I’ve got a schedule planned out for August that I’m hoping I can stick to as I am SO FAR behind in reviews. Seriously, there are books I read literally months ago on my to-be-reviewed list that I haven’t touched yet.

Anyways, let’s see what I read in July, shall we?

MY REVIEW

CW: Death of parent (off-page); Death of child (off-page); cheating; pregnancy

Nothing makes me happier than a new Lauren Layne book. It’s been a long time since I read a book in one sitting, yet somehow every time I read a book in one sitting, it’s a Lauren Layne book. I’ve been a Lauren Layne fan since I read Blurred Lines back in 2015, and ever since then, I’ve been anxiously awaiting each new release of hers. As soon as Made in Manhattan was available, I had to dive in! I loved this book so much that I stayed up until 3 am to finish it even though I had to work the next day. No regrets.

December 2021 Reading Recap

And just like that…December and 2021 are over! I’m going to focus this post solely on December as I plan to do a separate post for a 2021 year in review.

December was not the best reading month for me, which I expected as it has my birthday and the holidays, plus I was traveling and spending time with my family and that means less reading time. In December, I managed to read 7 books, which is more than I thought!

Let’s dive into what the last reads of the year were!

MY REVIEW

CW: Childhood cancer; death of sibling from cancer

I’m not a big fan of holiday-themed romances, but I am a big fan of Lauren Layne and An Ex for Christmas is such a cute, quick holiday read. An Ex for Christmas feels like a Hallmark movie in book form with a hint of a rom-com like What’s Your Number mixed in. You go in knowing exactly how it will end, but it’s fun to see how Layne will get our two lead characters together.

July 2021 Recap

Another month in the books! I hate that summer is flying by!

July was a busy month for me – both on the reading front and personal front. I finally got to take a vacation to a beach this month. I haven’t done that since the summer before the pandemic so I was super excited!

On the reading front, July ended up being a very strong month! In July, I ended up reading 12 books, bringing my total for year up to 66 books. I’m about 8 books ahead of meeting my goal of 100 books this year so I feel like I’m in a good position to hit that this year.

MY REVIEW

I want to preface this review by saying I’m a sucker for anything written by Lauren Layne. I will automatically be excited and buy whatever book she is publishing without even knowing or caring what it is about. In my book, she’s one of the top contemporary romance authors out there. With To Sir, With Love, Layne once again hits it out of the park.
