MY REVIEW

CW: Violence; gore; PTSD/panic attacks; kidnapping

I read this book back in April 2022, but I am just reviewing it now so forgive me if this is more high-level of a review than normal as I didn’t take as in-depth notes as I normally do!

Shadow’s Claim is book 12 in the Immortals After Dark series and also serves as book 1 in The Dacians series (a spinoff that is intertwined with IAD) and served as a nice change of pace to some of the really heavy storylines coming out of the Torture Island arc of IAD.

This book surprised me as I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it! The plot, the world, the romance, everything was so good!

MY REVIEW

CW: Torture; murder; suicidal thoughts; death; violence; substance abuse and addiction; kidnapping

I was very nervous going into this book knowing what had happened to Regin on Torture Island and that her mate was the head honcho on the island. I didn’t think that Cole would be able to redeem Declan Chase as that was an incredibly tall order. But somehow, she did, and this book is one of my favorites in the Immortals After Dark series.

MY REVIEW

CW: Slavery; sexual abuse; rape; violence; torture; kidnapping; murder

I will fully admit, it’s been a few months since I read this, as I’m still playing catch up on some reviews, so this might not be as detailed as usual.

Demon From the Dark is book nine in the Immortals After Dark series and kicks off a bit of a dark phase on what has been dubbed in the book community “Torture Island.” I enjoyed this one while reading it as it starts with a bang and continues to take you on a ride filled with adventure, romance, heartache, torture, and so much more.

MY REVIEW

CW: Rape; sexual assault; violence

Y’all, I don’t think the Lykae books in the Immortals After Dark series are for me. I’ve been putting off writing this review for almost two months, and my feelings on it have really sunk in now. I did not like this book at all, and it is currently my least favorite in the entire series. The plot and the romance were incredibly lackluster and the only thing that I liked was the epilogue.

MY REVIEW

Untouchable, one of the stories in the Deep Kiss of Winter anthology, finishes up the stories focused on the Wroth brothers. Unfortunately, it was my least favorite of the bunch. This book was strange to me as I didn’t actively dislike it, but it also didn’t wow me. If anything, it was a bit…forgettable. I read it and then immediately moved on. It didn’t leave a lasting impression on me like Sebastian’s or Conrad’s tale.

MY REVIEW

CW: sexual assault; non-consensual sexual encounters; confinement; violence

I totally missed reading this book when I started diving into the Immortals After Dark, so I decided to revisit it after reading Untouchable to finish all the books focused on the Wroth brothers. As a note, I read the revised version of this story released in 2017. While I’m not sure precisely what was changed, from what I’ve seen and heard, the changes were to make this book a bit less problematic, though it still is problematic (more on that later.)

MY REVIEW

CW: Edging; sexual torture; incest; violence; dubious consent

You know when you get a snippet of a couple who will be the center of a future book and you think, “that’s a book I will love!” Well, that was me with Sabine and Rydstrom. I think I’ve found my new favorite book in the Immortals After Dark series. After being introduced to them in Dark Desires After Dusk, I could not wait to get their story. And boy, did their story live up to my wildest expectations.

MY REVIEW

CW: Mental illness (OCD); pregnancy; non-consenual kissing; violence

I was looking forward to getting Cadeon’s story after being teased that he was in love with a human in Dark Needs at Night’s Edge. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this. Something about it failed to click with me, making reading it slow going. In many ways, this book reminded me of A Hunger Like No Other since we also get a road trip, but I found this a bit more enjoyable and less problematic.

MY REVIEW

Dark Needs at Night’s Edge might be the most bonkers entry in the Immortals After Dark series thus far. And yet, I somehow loved every minute of it? This story shouldn’t work – it’s a romance where a blood-thirsty vampire falls in love with a ghost for Pete’s sake. But somehow, Kresley Cole executes this crazy premise beautifully and the story works.

MY REVIEW

I was excited to dive into the third installment of the Immortals After Dark series as poor Bowen went through the wringer in No Rest for the Wicked. This book ended up being a very weird reading experience for me – I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. The plot was what really threw me and not in a good way.
