Hello, 2023! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
I took some time off from the holidays from blogging to spend time with the family, but I’m back and ready for action! I did a TON of reading in December (14 books to be exact) to help me hit my reading goal of the year, finishing up book 100 on New Year’s Eve. Hopefully, you hit all your bookish goals!
I will do a reading recap for 2022 sometime soon, as well as recap some of my favorite reads of the year so keep an eye out for that!
And now, let’s take a look at my last reads of the year.
November feels like it was gone in a blink of an eye. Spending two weeks in Europe definitely helped this month fly by for me. It also meant I was too busy to be doing much reading! Who wants to read when you can the Scottish Highlands and visit Vienna’s Christmas markets? Not me, that’s for sure!
Thanks to my trip to Europe, I only ended up reading 3 books this month – and I’m okay with that! I’m a bit behind on my goal of reading 100 books in 2022, but hoping I can make up for that in December!
I have to be honest – May was a rough month for me. You probably noticed a lack of posts this month. It wasn’t for lack of trying, but my work was insane this month, the world felt like a dumpster fire and I was mentally and physically exhausted so I took a bit of a step back from reviewing to prioritize myself.
While I don’t regret that decision, it definitely sucks that I wasn’t able to be as active with reviews and reading this month.
All this to say, May was not a good reading month for me. I only read six books this month – and that was a struggle. I’ve fallen slightly behind on my reading goals for the year, but I have no doubt I’ll catch up over the summer.
Got to be honest, I feel really weird posting regular content right now given the state of the world. Russia’s invasion and attack on Ukraine is hitting me hard. You might have noticed a bit of a lull in content recently, and it’s because I just have not had the brain space to devote to reading or reviews.
The last week has been incredibly hard for me mentally so I’ve been giving myself the space to rest and refresh, even if that means putting things I enjoy on the backburner.
I’m not going away, but posts might be a little bit sporadic. I’m hoping to get at least one review up this week, but make no promises.
Anyways, let’s get to my February recap. I definitely slowed down on my reading in the last week of the month, but I still had a pretty successful month reading 8 books. Quite impressive considering I read two 800+ page books.
I’ve been procrastinating writing any 2021 recap posts as I always hate narrowing everything down. This will be my first in a series, as I want to highlight my favorite reads in a separate post.
First off, 2021 was a milestone year for me as I reentered the book community. I relaunched this blog back in March 2021 and joined Instagram as I truly missed the book community. It’s been such a joy to return to the book community and I’ve had such a blast getting to know more people and finding so many great reads.
Once again, I find myself asking how it is the end of the month already?? Summer truly flew by this year and I’m in denial that fall is right around the corner.
While August might have flew by, it was also an incredible reading month for me. I didn’t even realize how much I read until I sat down to write this. This month I read 11 books, bringing my total for the year up to 77 books! I’m feeling really good about surpassing my goal of reading a 100 books this month based on how the last few months of reading have gone.
August 2021 Reads
Looking back at my August TBR, I read 8 out of the 10 books on the list. The two I missed were The Day of the Duchess (which I skimmed for scenes of Caleb and Sesily in prep for Bombshell)and It Happened One Summer which I still really want to get to!
Another month in the books! I hate that summer is flying by!
July was a busy month for me – both on the reading front and personal front. I finally got to take a vacation to a beach this month. I haven’t done that since the summer before the pandemic so I was super excited!
On the reading front, July ended up being a very strong month! In July, I ended up reading 12 books, bringing my total for year up to 66 books. I’m about 8 books ahead of meeting my goal of 100 books this year so I feel like I’m in a good position to hit that this year.
